Since I saw Ridley Scott's American Gangster I wanted to take a trip to Harlem's Lenox Lounge. When I got there I was disappointed to learn that they closed up shop. I almost didn't take the reference photo that would later become this painting. There is a lot of history in Harlem and I figured I could make a bigger statement about the neighborhood if I rendered it in it's present state. Even better is that I captured a candid of young African American man walking by and looking onto the building. It was perfect. Painting created in Brushes 3 for iPad.
