Commission: "Duncan" iPad Painting
Recently I was commissioned by a returning client to create a painting for a family member. Generally I don't illustrate horses so this was a welcome change of pace. The art was created in Procreate and the style I used was very painterly. I sketched in the details and blocked in the colors from there until it was done. There's even a heartwarming video of her getting the gift. All in all one of the best commissions I've gotten so far.

Featured Illustration: Captain America
Captain America is by far my favorite superhero and I greatly enjoyed Marvel Studios adaption of The Winter Soldier arc. I noticed they took different things from Brubaker's arc and Millar's Ultimates. I decided to do my take on one of the character posters of Cap and create it in ArtRage. The majority of it was painted using a Nomad Brush and my new easel. It felt like I was back in a studio painting class. In terms of technique I kept the brush strokes loose until I got towards the end. The palette knife really helped add to the realism of the piece. To the eye it looks like a photo as a thumbnail which is generally what I like to achieve in ArtRage. It's still a digital painting but it's important that people can see the human hand behind it's creation.
